WHAT IS A COMPACT KITCHEN?

You might have heard of something called a compact kitchen, but be a little vague about what it actually is.

In a nutshell, it is a new and innovative appliance and cooking center that is designed to be used in a small space, or anywhere that you might not want to use floor space on full size appliances.

Most of these kitchens have a refrigerator with freezer, range cook top, sink and storage compartments all built into one unit.

Are They Well Built?

In case you are wondering if you sacrifice quality for size with one of these handy compact kitchens, rest assured that this is not the case at all. In fact, these kitchens have all of the style, quality, features and benefits of their full size counterparts!

These units have been popular and widely used all throughout European and Asian countries for many years, but it wasn’t until recently that the U.S. became more aware of just how convenient and desirable they are.

In many cases, you might say that a compact kitchen is a problem solver.

For instance, if you are a student, retiree or single person who prefers to have your living accommodations in a smallish space, a compact kitchen could be invaluable to you!

Although these kitchens are sometimes preferred by people who aren’t into cooking or spending much time in the kitchen, the fact is that they are completely equipped for any food preparation project….large or small.

One big advantage of a compact kitchen for a senior citizen, or someone with a disability that limits mobility, is that everything is all there at your fingertips. No need to take unnecessary steps around a large kitchen in order to use the sink, stove or refrigerator.

Compact kitchens are reasonably priced and very well built, using high quality workmanship and materials. They are designed for full utility.

Perfect for DIY’ers, most of these kitchens have a galley layout that allows for adaptability. If your renovation or remodeling plans call for a kitchen redo, you may find a compact kitchen will free up a lot of space to use for something else.

These compact units are designed to deliver the maximum efficiency, but this doesn’t mean that they’re short on style!

Most units are built to make the most of space, and offer sleek, high tech, attractive styling. One piece construction makes them a dream for anyone whose kitchen has a small footprint.

The average kitchen size is considered to be between 100 to 200 square feet. If your kitchen is less than 100 square feet, it’s smaller than the norm and might benefit from a compact kitchen unit that would consume less living space.

Yet another advantage to one of these units is that they use less energy, which helps your pocketbook as well as the planet! Plus, cleaning one of these all-in-one kitchen units is a snap!

If you decide to purchase a compact kitchen and start shopping around, you will find that they come in a variety of styles, sizes and prices.

For example, you may choose a unit with more counter or storage space. Or, you might want one with overhead shelving. There is a great selection to choose from, and you are sure to find one that suits your needs and your budget!
